Swiss company "Synthelion," specializing in clean energy technologies, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the government on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, to establish a commercial plant for the production of synthetic fuel in the city of Tan-Tan, with an annual production capacity of up to 100,000 tons of renewable fuel.
The project focuses on utilizing the available potential in the Guelmim-Oued Noun region to produce fuel for the aviation, land, and maritime transport sectors, relying on technologies that convert biomethane, carbon dioxide, and water into synthetic fuel using renewable energy. The company clarified that the project is part of expanding its clean fuel technologies. Minister Delegate in charge of Investment, Convergence, and Evaluation of Public Policies, Karim Zeidan, considered the agreement to be within the framework of efforts to attract industrial investments with added value in the fields of innovation and sustainability. According to available data, the project includes allocating a land plot and establishing a branch for the company in Morocco, paving the way for the development of an industrial facility and the establishment of a value chain linked to renewable fuel in the region.
