HIBAPRESS – Guelmim
The Guelmim-Oued Noun Regional Council, during its ordinary session for October, approved a partnership agreement to finance and implement a program for small dams and hillside lakes, with a total financial envelope of approximately 1 billion and 525 million dirhams, aiming to strengthen the region's water infrastructure.
The program includes the construction of 10 new dams, the completion of 9 other projects currently underway, as well as the rehabilitation of one dam, in a move to expand water storage facilities and enhance water resource mobilization capacities in various areas of the region.
This agreement falls within the framework of the National Program for Drinking Water and Irrigation Water Supply for the period 2022-2027, defining the mechanisms for financing and implementing the projects, as well as the commitments incumbent upon the various parties contributing to their execution.
This program aims to strengthen water infrastructure and keep pace with the region's development needs by developing water storage and mobilization capacities, in light of the challenges associated with water resource management and ensuring their sustainability.
