HIBAPRESS – Khalil Fezzazi
Member of Parliament Hassan Derham, from the Progress and Socialism Party bloc, was elected on Wednesday evening as the head of the Education and Culture Committee at the House of Representatives, as part of completing the formation of the legislative institution's structures and distributing the presidencies of the permanent parliamentary committees.
Derham's election comes in the context of distributing responsibilities among parliamentary blocs and groups, ensuring the completion of the Council's structures and enabling the permanent committees to carry out their legislative and oversight roles in various sectors.
The Education and Culture Committee holds special importance within the legislative institution, given its mandates related to educational and cultural issues, and its role in studying relevant draft laws and proposals, in addition to following public policies related to the two sectors.
Through his presidency of this committee, Hassan Derham will oversee its work and follow up on files falling within its scope, at a stage when efforts to complete the formation of the House of Representatives' structures and activate its legislative and oversight roles continue.
The Progress and Socialism Party previously held the presidency of the same committee through Member of Parliament Kaltouma Mint Abi, according to data regarding the distribution of responsibilities within the Council.
