The Istiqlal party recorded a decline in its results during the 2026 legislative elections, compared to the 2021 electoral contest, as the number of seats it obtained decreased from 81 to 65 seats.
The party thus lost 16 parliamentary seats within five years, reflecting a decline in its representation within the House of Representatives, despite retaining third place in the party rankings according to the announced results.
The decline is not limited to the number of seats, as a comparison of electoral results indicates that the party has lost part of its voter base, which raises questions about the extent of electoral support the party enjoys compared to the 2021 elections.
These results are interpreted as an indicator of the decline in trust of a segment of voters in the party, given the decrease in the number of seats and votes compared to the previous contest.
The Istiqlal party had obtained 81 seats in the 2021 elections, before its tally declined in the 2026 elections to 65 seats, a difference of 16 seats.
