HIBAPRESS – Fez
The legislative elections of September 23, 2026, have marked the end of Al-Tahmi Al-Wazzani's parliamentary career in the Fez North constituency, after he was unable to retain the seat he had won in the previous elections.
The result came in an electoral context characterized by strong competition within the constituency, and the emergence of new names seeking to attract voters' support, at a time when the list of the National Rally of Independents, led by Al-Wazzani, sparked local debate about the choice of candidate and the nature of electoral presence during the campaign period.
Since the start of the election campaign, Al-Wazzani's presence appeared less prominent compared to previous electoral stages, according to local observers. This opened a debate about the candidate's ability to maintain his previous electoral base, especially in light of the changing electoral mood and the multiplicity of competing names for the constituency's seats.
The candidacy was also accompanied by local talk about the existence of voices that preferred to promote a new electoral face to represent the party in the constituency. These are data that reflect, in part, the internal debate that usually accompanies the candidate selection process, without being a decisive explanation for the final result on its own.
The loss of the seat for Al-Wazzani carries a political and electoral significance, as it ends a phase of his presence within the legislative institution and, in turn, opens the door for a new interpretation of the political representation map in Northern Fez.
The September 23 results remain an indicator of the transformations that the constituency has witnessed, both at the level of voters' choices and at the level of the ability of parties and candidates to maintain their electoral positions, pending the next phase revealing the features of new alignments within the local political landscape.
