HIBAPRESS – Tangier
This Saturday morning, an inspection committee from the Ministry of Interior arrived in Tangier to launch an administrative investigation into the data that emerged regarding potential irregularities related to the electoral process in the Tangier-Assilah prefecture, particularly at the Al-Quds School polling station.
This step comes as security services continue their investigations into the case known in the media as the "Bag Man" file, which has resulted, according to circulating information, in the arrest of a number of individuals suspected of being involved in the incidents under investigation.
A group of detainees are undergoing investigations conducted by judicial police elements, including two officials who were chairing polling stations at Al-Quds School, pending the completion of legal procedures and the referral of those concerned to the competent Public Prosecution.
The ongoing administrative and judicial investigations are expected to contribute to clarifying the circumstances of the events that took place at the polling station, uncovering potential responsibilities, as well as verifying the truth of alleged electoral violations, their proven extent, and their exploitation, should the investigated incidents be confirmed.
Local attention is focused on the results and decisions that will emerge from the open investigations, pending the completion of various procedures by the competent judicial and administrative authorities.
It is worth noting that some media sources have circulated news indicating the issuance of an arrest warrant against Mounir Lemriri, the mayor of Tangier, on the background of the same case. However, this information has not yet received any official confirmation from the competent authorities.
