HIBAPRESS – Casablanca
With the Authenticity and Modernity Party topping the legislative election results, eyes are turning to the map of alliances that will shape the features of the next government, foremost among them the possibility of renewing the alliance between PAM and the National Rally of Independents, after the previous government coalition brought them together, although political speculation and analyses indicate the opposite and place the Independents in the opposition ranks beforehand.
Despite the fact that the two parties worked together within the governmental majority during the past five years, the recent election campaign witnessed some skirmishes and verbal exchanges between leaders from both sides, in the context of competition for voter ballots, before PAM topped the results and became in a leading position for the upcoming consultations.
In contrast, Aziz Akhannouch, the most prominent figure in the National Rally of Independents, congratulated his rivals in the Authenticity and Modernity Party after they topped the election results, a stance that comes in the context of a new phase where parties will transition from electoral competition to searching for the features of the next governmental majority.
So, will the same parties return to the negotiation table for an alliance again, or will the election results redraw the majority map and open the door for different alliances? The answer will become clear with the start of official consultations to form the next government.
