HIBAPRESS – Rabat
Families of several children with diabetes face additional challenges related to treatment costs, especially with the rising cost of some insulin supplies, most notably insulin pens, where the price of a single pen can reach 130 dirhams.
Mothers of children with diabetes say that these expenses constitute a recurring burden on family budgets, especially for children who need continuous treatment. This pushes them to demand that these pens be included among the products that benefit from reimbursement for treatment expenses.
The mothers emphasize that the cost of a single pen may seem limited when calculated individually, but the repeated purchase throughout the month and year makes the accumulated amount a financial burden, especially for low-income families.
The concerned families are calling on the competent authorities, insurance companies, and bodies responsible for health coverage to consider these demands and work to find a mechanism that ensures the easing of the financial burden associated with the treatment of children with diabetes, thereby helping families ensure the continuity of treatment without its cost becoming an obstacle.
