HIBAPRESS-Taroudant
Eyes in the province of Taroudant are turning to the olive harvesting season, which is starting in an atmosphere of anticipation and caution, in light of the continued impact of climate fluctuations and the rise in labor costs. These two factors are increasingly pressuring farmers and producers, raising concerns about the profitability and quality of the harvest.
Olive producers in Taroudant are facing challenges primarily related to rising temperatures and sudden weather changes, which forces them to resort to agricultural techniques and methods to mitigate the effects of these conditions on the trees and fruits. These include the use of nutritional substances and the assistance of experts and technicians to diagnose the condition of the farms and determine appropriate interventions at the right time.
In parallel, the labor crisis emerges as one of the most prominent challenges facing the season, after it has become more difficult to secure workers during the harvesting period, coinciding with rising wages and production costs. Professionals fear that this situation will lead to delays in harvesting operations and an increase in their cost, especially given the unclear outlook regarding the volume of final production and the prices that the market will witness.
These concerns come after the past agricultural season witnessed a remarkable improvement in olive production nationwide, supported by improved climatic conditions and rainfall. However, current indicators are pushing olive producers in the Taroudant province to deal cautiously with the new season, pending clarification of the harvest volume and the extent of the impact of heat and labor shortages on the course of harvesting and marketing operations.
