The ordinary October session of the Berrechid Communal Council witnessed a tense atmosphere, as the discussion of one of the agenda items turned into a heated debate characterized by accusations and clashes between a number of council members, following an item related to licensing a company for the management of poultry waste.
Civil society actors and opposition members expressed their rejection of granting the license to the company, considering that the file raises a number of questions related to the management of poultry waste and its potential repercussions on the environment and the health of the population.
The intensity of the debate within the council escalated during the discussion of the item, amid a clear disagreement among the council's components regarding the license, which resulted in a charged atmosphere and verbal friction between a number of speakers.
