HIBAPRESS – Fez
Security services in the city of Fez have responded to a case that has captured the attention of the local public, initiating investigations into the luring of a 15-year-old minor girl via social media, accompanied by suspicions of blackmail and exploitation of personal photos.
The judicial police elements of Fez, in coordination with the Directorate General for Territorial Surveillance, managed to arrest a 20-year-old young man on Thursday, October 8th, on suspicion of involvement in the facts under investigation.
This operation is part of investigations aimed at determining the nature of the relationship between the suspect and the minor, how her private photos were obtained, whether she was subjected to exploitation, threats, or dissemination, and to verify the possibility of other individuals being involved in the case.
Investigations are underway under the supervision of the competent public prosecution, which is expected to determine legal responsibilities based on the results of the investigation and the digital expertise conducted in this case.
In this context, the "Matghesh Waldi" organization expressed its satisfaction with the arrest of the suspect, while calling for the case to be handled with particular sensitivity given the age of the alleged victim, and for the protection of the minor and prevention of any further defamation or harm to be a top priority.
The organization stressed the necessity of subjecting the digital data related to the case to the necessary expertise, which would allow for the determination of the path of the disseminated photos and content, and the uncovering of any potential exploitation or blackmail operations, while respecting the presumption of innocence and the secrecy of the investigations.
It also emphasized the importance of providing psychological, social, and legal support to the minor, and protecting her identity and private data, warning against the circulation of photos or information that could reveal her identity or increase her suffering.
The case brings back to the forefront the dangers of digital luring of children, especially with the ease of communication through social platforms and the possibility of exploiting trust or young age to obtain personal photos and information that can later be used as a means of pressure and blackmail.
"Matghesh Waldi" believes that confronting this phenomenon should not be limited to security and judicial intervention after harm has occurred, but also requires intensifying awareness campaigns within educational institutions and families, teaching children and adolescents how to safely deal with suspicious accounts and messages, and encouraging them to seek help immediately if they are subjected to any threat.
The details of the case remain linked to what the ongoing judicial investigations and technical expertise will reveal, pending the outcome of the legal proceedings regarding the acts attributed to the suspect.
