HIBAPRESS – Mohammed Zerouih
The population of a number of villages in the Beni Hudaifa commune, Al Hoceima province, is facing a continuous crisis in accessing drinking water, characterized by frequent interruptions and delays in completing individual household connections, despite the completion of sectoral projects, the sending of official correspondence, and the holding of joint meetings to address the issue.
Available data indicates that the commune sought to enhance citizens' access to this vital resource in Al Hoceima province by completing two projects over the past two years, benefiting around 180 homes. However, a number of families have not been able to benefit effectively due to the faltering completion of technical procedures and meter installation.
In light of increasing resident complaints, the council presidency has corresponded with the competent authorities to expedite the procedures necessary to overcome these complexities. This led to an official meeting on May 8, 2026, with the participation of commune representatives and officials from the Regional Company for Multi-Services in Al Hoceima.
The aforementioned meeting resulted in a series of practical commitments, including the installation of meters, the study of a project to build a new pumping station, processing between 10 and 15 connection requests weekly starting from mid-May 2026, and accelerating the approval of the specifications book for network expansion.
In light of these commitments passing months, the population of Al Hoceima province remains in anticipation of a practical and effective implementation of what was agreed upon, which would ensure a definitive end to the suffering of interruptions and provide drinking water services under stable and sustainable conditions.
