HIBAPRESS – Mohammed Zerouih
National security forces operating at the Beni Ensar border crossing, in close coordination with customs services, managed on October 4th to thwart a major operation to smuggle a significant quantity of hashish through the border crossing point.
The security operation resulted in the arrest of a Moroccan national residing abroad, who was in a light vehicle with Spanish license plates, immediately upon his arrival at the border crossing from one of his countries of residence.
The suspect was apprehended after his car underwent a detailed inspection and border surveillance using X-ray scanning devices, which led to the discovery and seizure of a total of 91 kilograms of hashish.
Field data indicated that this seized shipment was meticulously hidden inside secret compartments specially prepared for this purpose within the car's structure, in an attempt to mislead customs and security services.
The suspect has been subjected to judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecution to uncover all potential ramifications of this criminal activity and apprehend any other presumed accomplices, as this operation falls within the framework of ongoing efforts to combat international drug smuggling.
