HIBAPRESS – Tetouan
A number of artists in the city of Tetouan have raised questions about what they described as their exclusion from participating in the National Theatre Festival, organized in the city, expressing their dissatisfaction with their absence from an artistic and cultural event hosted by the White Dove.
The artists concerned questioned the criteria adopted for selecting participants in the various segments of the festival, whether it concerned theatrical performances or parallel workshops and activities, which constitute an opportunity for the exchange of experiences, development of artistic skills, and enhancement of theatrical experiences.
These artists considered that the organization of the festival in Tetouan since 2015 raises questions about the presence of local artists within its programming, and the extent to which they benefit from the opportunities offered by this national event, especially in light of what they express as a feeling of marginalization and exclusion.
In this context, Tetouan artists pose a direct question: How does the city host a national theatre festival while some of its artist sons feel distant from participating in its activities, including workshops and training activities?
This is not merely about attending a cultural event, according to the nature of these demands, but about the necessity of clarifying participation criteria and ensuring equal opportunities for local artists, allowing them to develop their experiences and contribute to the cultural and artistic radiance of their city.
