Informed sources told HIBAPRESS that one of the two girls diagnosed with diphtheria in the city of Dakhla died today, Monday, after four days of suffering from the disease, during which she was under medical care at the Al-Hassan II Regional Hospital.
According to the same sources, the two girls, who are sisters, were discovered to be infected with the disease after undergoing the necessary medical examinations, which confirmed their infection with diphtheria, also known as "diphtheria," and they were placed in the General Medicine Center and subjected to the approved treatment protocol for dealing with this disease.
Four days ago, Al-Hassan II Regional Hospital in Dakhla experienced a state of medical alert coinciding with the registration of the two cases, as part of the measures taken to deal with the health situation and monitor those infected.
This incident brings the spotlight back to the dangers of diphtheria, which can cause serious health complications, especially in children, highlighting the importance of vaccination, prevention, early diagnosis, and rapid medical intervention.
