HIBAPRESS – Tetouan
Efforts to extinguish a forest fire that broke out in the "Kabash" area, affiliated with Beni Hassan in the Tetouan province, near the administrative border of the Chefchaouen province, continue today, Saturday, October 24, 2026, amidst a wide field mobilization to control the flames and limit their spread.
The fire mobilized approximately 170 elements from various intervening services in both provinces, with the participation of local authorities, civil defense, the National Agency for Water and Forests, the auxiliary forces, and national rescue services, in addition to the contribution of the local population to the intervention efforts.
Specialized firefighting vehicles and equipment were also deployed, alongside "Canadair" aircraft, to confront the flames that have affected forest areas, despite the field difficulties imposed by the rugged terrain.
The Governor of Chefchaouen Province is following the intervention operations from the scene, where he is monitoring the efforts of various services in the field and coordinating, in cooperation with the authorities of Tetouan Province, the firefighting operations and the securing of neighboring areas.
According to preliminary data, no human or material losses have been recorded so far. The affected area is still under assessment, while field mobilization continues until the fire is completely brought under control.
