As part of the efforts to enhance healthcare provision and bring specialized medical services closer to the population, the Smara Provincial Hospital Center hosted a multidisciplinary medical campaign on October 24th and 25th, 2026. Organized by the provincial health directorate and the Takaful Association for Humanitarian Action, with support from the National Initiative for Human Development and in partnership with various local entities, the campaign coincided with the celebrations of the first anniversary of the Unity Day.

The Governor of Smara Province, Ibrahim Boutoumilat, on Saturday morning, October 24th, supervised a tour of the various corridors of the medical campaign, accompanied by the Director General of the Territorial Health Group of the Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra region, Professor Ibrahim Al Ahmadi, along with elected officials and civil and military figures. The delegation reviewed the workflow of the health and treatment units and the nature of the services provided to beneficiaries.

Integrated medical, nursing, and administrative teams were mobilized for this initiative, comprising 21 doctors in multiple specialties, including pediatrics, gynecology and obstetrics, cardiology, pulmonology, dermatology, endocrinology and diabetes, urology, and general medicine, with the aim of enabling beneficiaries to receive specialized medical examinations and consultations.

The campaign also included the provision of a mobile pharmacy to contribute to the distribution of medicines and treatment supplies within the available capabilities and according to professional standards, which helps facilitate beneficiaries' access to the healthcare services provided during this initiative.

The campaign's program was not limited to the treatment aspect; it also included awareness and educational workshops for children, covering oral and dental health and prevention of sexual abuse, alongside an educational workshop using the "Montessori" methodology, in an approach that combines healthcare, awareness, and education.

This free, two-day solidarity initiative falls within the framework of efforts to improve access to specialized medical services, support healthcare provision in the Smara province, and bring healthcare closer to citizens, especially given the importance of medical campaigns in promoting prevention and early detection of diseases.
