HIBAPRESS – Abdelatif Baraka
The suffering of the residents of Taroudant city is renewed with the foul odors that hang over a number of neighborhoods, especially during the night and early morning hours. This is amidst repeated complaints of emissions, some of which are likely linked to cow shed odors, in addition to waste burning operations east of the city, and the accompanying suffocating smoke and odors that raise residents' concerns about their potential impacts on health and the environment.
Faced with the continuation of this situation, voices are rising demanding serious field intervention to identify the sources of pollution and verify the conditions of waste management and livestock-related activities, with the necessary environmental monitoring. Residents are also raising questions about the fate of complaints and grievances directed to the concerned authorities, feeling that their suffering has not, to date, received the response that ends this recurring situation and guarantees their right to a healthy environment.
