Sardine prices begin to gradually decline as summer draws to a close
Heba Press – Casablanca
Sardine prices have started to gradually fall in recent days in several auctions and stores in Casablanca and its suburbs, after having exceeded twenty dirhams per kilo in recent weeks.
According to information gathered by Heba Press, the price of a kilo of sardines began to fall towards the end of the summer season and is currently between 16 and 20 dirhams.
Fishing professionals justify the high price of sardines in summer, which exceeds 20 dirhams per kilogram, by a decrease in the level of fishing gear due to the high water temperature, and therefore a decrease in the quantity of sardines caught.
