Two Moroccan teams in the PubG mobile and MLBB Open (Men) categories have qualified for the e-Sports World Championships scheduled for next November in Riyadh, following the African Championships which ended on Wednesday in Casablanca.
In the MLBB Open (Men) category, the Moroccan team ranked second behind the Egyptian selection, while third place went to the Tunisian selection.
In the PubG mobile (Men) category, the Moroccan selection also took second place behind the Egyptian selection, while the Mauritian team took third place.
The winners were awarded during a ceremony organized in the presence of the Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports, Chakib Benmoussa, the Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid and the Wali of the Casablanca-Settat region, Mohamed Mhidia.
In a speech, the president of the Royal Moroccan Federation of Electronic Games, Hicham El Khlifi, immediately welcomed the success of the face-to-face organization of this sporting event, unlike other continents which favor a remote competition, also saying he was satisfied with the remarkable level of the African selections as well as the large number of spectators.
Mr. El Khlifi, who also chairs the African Confederation of Digital Sports, noted that the organization in Morocco for the first time in the continent of these Championships proves, if need be, that Morocco is capable of organizing sporting events of international scope.
Organized from August 16 to 21 by the African Confederation of Digital Sports (ACDS) and the International Electronic Sports Federation (IESF), in partnership with the Royal Moroccan Federation of Electronic Games (FRMJE), these championships were marked by a series of competitions contested by more than 180 players representing 17 countries and this, in five categories, namely CS2 Open, CS2 Women, MLBB Open, MLBB Women and PubG mobile.
By organizing this first pan-African competition, the African Digital Sports Confederation seeks to strengthen ties between African nations and highlight the power of the African e-sports community.
Much more than just a competition, this event is a celebration of African solidarity, innovation and the immense potential of e-sports in Africa, the organizers emphasize.
