State support for sugar and wheat imports continued to increase this year, especially in light of successive years of drought, which affected the value of the national product, which declined considerably.

In this regard, state support for the import of raw and refined sugar recorded a continuous increase, reaching 6.59 billion dirhams, while support for raw sugar increased from 0.31 billion dirhams in 2020 to 2.52 billion dirhams in 2023.

On the other hand, support for the import of wheat, in turn, has seen a constant increase, as the State has reactivated the flat-rate subsidy for the import of soft wheat since 2021, and for the same year, it allocated a financial coverage of 1.35 billion dirhams, reaching 9.31 billion dirhams and 2.58 billion dirhams respectively during the years 2022 and 2023.

The support of the compensation fund allocated to national soft wheat flour also recorded a relative increase, going from 1.28 billion dirhams during the year 2020 to 1.32 billion dirhams during the year 2023.
