The Spanish National Police has opened an investigation into the escape of four people holding Moroccan passports, who had requested asylum in one of the waiting rooms of the Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas airport, where they are processed requests for international protection.
According to Spanish media, the fugitives infiltrated through ventilation holes in the ceiling and the Spanish Interior Ministry, in cooperation with the security services, followed their tracks.
In another context, the Spanish Ministry of the Interior refused to respond to political pressure to grant asylum to members of the Polisario Front present at the same airport, declaring itself ready to deport them to Morocco. The ministry also prevented meetings with some left-wing parliamentary representatives, in an attempt to avoid giving the issue an additional political dimension.
The Spanish press reported that 35 people were at the airport, all from the southern provinces of Morocco, seeking asylum because of their support for the Polisario Front, while 25 of them began a strike. hungry without getting any results.
