Minister of Health and Social Protection Khaled Ait Taleb has promised to lower the prices of 169 additional medicines.
On Monday, in the House of Representatives, in response to an oral question on “rising drug prices”, the minister announced that the rate of price reduction could reach around 59 percent for certain drugs used to treat chronic diseases .
The government official noted that the prices of all medicines decreased after the exemption from domestic value added and import tax, pointing out that the prices of 4,500 generic medicines decreased, and he considered that this issue was linked to “a large amount of work which requires agreement with the manufacturers.
