Faced with growing prison overcrowding, the General Delegate for Prison Administration and Reintegration, Mohamed Salah Tamek, published a new note, which he addressed to the various prison directors, through the Registry Directorate, in the purpose of preparing the files of inmates eligible for parole.
The Registry Directorate has transmitted to prison directors preliminary lists of detainees concerning certain prisoners who appear to meet the legal conditions according to the circumstances of their criminal case, the daily “Assabah” reported this Friday.
The note calls for focusing, initially, on humanitarian cases, on people convicted of minor offenses as well as on prisoners sentenced to criminal sentences whose remaining sentence is equal to or less than one year. .
