According to IMF forecasts, growth in the world economy should continue at a moderate pace, reaching 3.2% in 2024 and 3.3% in 2025, after 3.3% in 2023. Growth rates would remain variable by country and region in 2024. However, these differences are expected to narrow in 2025, reflecting a certain convergence on a global scale. Inflation is expected to continue to fall, allowing central banks to gradually ease monetary policy.
In advanced economies, growth should remain generally moderate in 2024, stable compared to 2023. However, this stability masks divergences between strong growth in the United States, a clear slowdown in Japan and a modest recovery in the euro zone and the United Kingdom. For emerging economies, growth should remain relatively resilient, driven by the good performance of China and India, despite a slowdown in the Brazilian economy. For their part, sub-Saharan Africa and the MENA region are expected to record a gradual recovery, after a sharp slowdown in 2023.
