Industry: Bosses optimistic for the next three months

Manufacturers expect an improvement in production and sales over the next three months, according to Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM).

“For the next three months, manufacturers anticipate an increase in production and sales in all branches of activity, except in ‘textiles and leather’ where they rather expect stagnation in production and a decline sales”, indicates BAM in a note on its monthly economic survey in the industry for the month of March 2024.

Conducted from April 1 to 30, 2024, this survey also shows an improvement in activity last March. Thus, production would have increased in all branches of activity with the exception of “textiles and leather” where it would have fallen back.

As for the production capacity utilization rate (TUC), it would have stabilized at 79%, while sales would have increased both on the local and foreign markets.

By sector, these sales would have recorded an increase in “chemistry and parachemistry”, “mechanics and metallurgy” and “electrical and electronics”, stagnation in “agro-food” and a drop in “textiles and leather “. Regarding orders, they would have recorded stagnation, covering an increase in “electrical and electronics”, stagnation in “agro-food” and “mechanics and metallurgy” and a decline in “textiles and leather » and in “chemistry and parachemistry”.

Order books, for their part, would have been at a level below normal in all branches of activity.

The results of this survey are based on a response rate of 63%.
