The trade negotiations between the United States and China, which started on Saturday in Geneva, produced “great progress”, welcomed US President Donald Trump.
“Great progress made”, wrote the American president on the network, Truth Social.
The negotiations led by the American secretary to the Treasury Scott Bessent and the representative of trade Jamieson Greer, and by the Chinese Deputy Prime Minister in charge of the Economy He Lifeng, held for more than eight hours in Geneva to try to lower trade tensions between the first two economies of the world.
Trump welcomed a “very good meeting”, where several subjects were discussed and “many things have been accepted”.
The American president also delighted with a “total reset negotiated in a friendly, but constructive manner”, adding that he wishes “for the good of China and the United States, an opening of China to American companies”.
This is the first face-to-face between American and Chinese officials since the start of the trade war during which the two giants won customs duties of more than 100%.
Discussions will have to continue in the Swiss city on Sunday.
