Exceptionally on three occasions, no Aid El Adha for Moroccans

HIBAPRESS-RABAT
Moroccans have experienced very crucial moments in their lives which required them to fail to subscribe to the ritual and in this context which is so crucial for what Aid Al Adha represents for all Moroccans, it was therefore necessary that Fire HM King Hassan II intervenes in person to resolve this thorny problem thanks to his wisdom and foresight
Thus, in his capacity as Commander of the Faithful, the late Hassan II had on three occasions called on the people not to carry out the sacrifice.
In 1963, Morocco suffered from the repercussions of the Sand Wars. The late sovereign then called on Moroccans to refrain from performing this rite.
The Moroccans will ignore the sacrificial offering once again in 1981, where the drought had pushed breeders to abandon their starving herds for lack of means to feed them. As a result, the available livestock could not meet the demand of all Moroccans, so great was the crisis that few heads of families had the means to afford a sheep.
The bread riots that occurred in June 1983 in Casablanca were still very present in people’s minds when the late HM King Hassan II affirmed that the sacrifice he made was valid for the entire people.
In 1996, it was the Minister of Habouss and Islamic Affairs, the late Abdelkebir Alaoui M’daghri, who was responsible for reading a Message from the late Hassan II on television, explaining that the 1995 agricultural year was catastrophic and that the accomplishment of the sacrifice would endanger the national livestock and that HM Hassan II will sacrifice two sheep, one in his name, the other being symbolically offered in the name of all Moroccans
