Argentina remains at the top of the FIFA Ranking Change at the foot of the podium Liberia makes the best progress

Between the 26 FIFA World Cup™ qualifiers in the CAF, AFC and Concacaf zones and the preparation matches for UEFA EURO 2024, CONMEBOL Copa América 2024 and the OFC Nations Cup, international football news has been intense since the last publication of the FIFA Ranking last April. In total, 187 international matches were played, which significantly impacted this ranking.

Certainly, the leading trio is not changing. Argentina (1st) still dominates the debates, France (2nd) and Belgium (3rd) remaining in their wake. But things are moving at the foot of the podium since Brazil (4th, +1) and England (5th, -1) swap their positions. Followed by Portugal (6th), the Netherlands (7th) and Spain (8th). Croatia (9th, +1) overtakes Italy (10th, -1) which nevertheless maintains its place in the Top 10.

There are many changes in the Top 100. The breakthroughs of Ghana (64th, +4), Honduras (78th, +4), Haiti (86th, +4), Curaçao (87th, +4) and Benin ( 91st, +6) are among the most spectacular. But Namibia (97th, +9) does even better, jumping nine places.

Nothing is set in stone either in the second part of the table. Thus, Mozambique (103rd, +7), Madagascar (104th, +5), Korea DPR (110th, +8), Sudan (121st, +6), Nicaragua (130th, +5) and Gibraltar (198th ,+5) are back following good performances. However, the best progression of the quarter can be attributed to Liberia (142nd, +10) which remains undefeated in 2024.

It should be noted that matches played in continental competitions that have recently started in Europe and Oceania are not taken into account in the calculation of the June FIFA Ranking.

The next FIFA World Ranking will be published on July 18, 2024.
