HIBAPRESS – Rabat
The Democratic Forces Front Party expressed its concern regarding the recent developments in the health sector in Morocco, particularly the protests witnessed in the city of Agadir and other areas, indicating that these events reflect the extent of citizens' daily suffering with the health system, and confirm that structural malfunctions still exist and that the promised reforms have not yet met legitimate expectations.
The party pointed to the contradiction between the escalation of social protests regarding the fragility of services and the shortage of human resources, on the one hand, and the involvement in major reform projects such as the generalization of health coverage and the restructuring of the system through territorial health groups, which will enter into force in the Tangier-Al Hoceima region starting from next October 1st, as a preliminary model that raises questions about the conditions for success and sustainability. The party, led by Secretary-General Mustapha Benali, called for organizing a comprehensive national debate on health, bringing together all actors from public authorities, parties, unions, associations, and representative bodies, with the aim of developing a national charter that defines priorities and enhances trust, while presenting practical proposals to evaluate previous reforms, reduce spatial disparities, enhance national health security, develop human resources, and achieve pharmaceutical and biotechnological sovereignty, to ensure that Moroccans have the right to access fair and effective health services.
