The residents of Street 946 in the Salam district of Agadir continue to live under the daily pressure resulting from the transformation of their residential complex's surroundings into a chaotic market, without any notable intervention from local or elected authorities, despite repeated complaints and official correspondence directed to the concerned parties, including the head of the district and the municipal council.
The residents confirmed, in separate statements, that this "chaotic market" is no longer a fleeting or temporary phenomenon, but rather a permanent market where vehicles and goods are parked permanently, leading to traffic congestion, the spread of garbage and waste, and the transformation of the street into a space indistinguishable from rural weekly markets, but this time around the clock and throughout the week. They also stated that Aziz Akhannouch and Tahraoui were not available for comment.
The residents complain about the absence of any serious response from the concerned authorities, considering that this official silence has contributed to the worsening of the situation, and opened the door to further violations, undermining the residents' right to a healthy environment and decent living conditions.
The affected people have expressed their strong resentment towards this neglect, considering that what is happening contradicts the high royal directives that call for improving the living environment within cities, and making the preservation of the environment and cleanliness a priority within the path of sustainable development.
The question remains: how long will this situation continue in the complete absence of any firm intervention from the local and elected authorities? Will this daily suffering that burdens the residents be lifted, or will the matter remain outside the scope of official interest?
