Saint Lucia, on Tuesday in New York, renewed its support for the Moroccan autonomy initiative, which the Kingdom presented for the final resolution of the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.
The representative of Saint Lucia, Carlton Rony Henry, confirmed before the members of the Fourth Committee of the United Nations General Assembly that his country's delegation "supports the Moroccan autonomy initiative" in order to reach a just, lasting and mutually acceptable political solution for this fabricated conflict.
On the other hand, the diplomat renewed his country's support for the efforts of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and his Personal Envoy to the Moroccan Sahara, aimed at facilitating the political process, adding that the settlement of this conflict can only be achieved within the exclusive framework of the United Nations.
In conclusion, the diplomat called on all parties to engage constructively and in good faith in this process.
