HIBAPRESS – Tetouan
On Wednesday, October 15, 2025, Moroccan security services successfully thwarted an attempt to collectively breach the occupied city of Ceuta, following days of suspicious Algerian pages circulating inciting calls aimed at escalating the situation on the northern borders of the Kingdom.
The city of Fnideq, which was previously a scene of attempts related to irregular migration, witnessed an unprecedented state of security alert, where the security presence was reinforced along the border strip, and the degree of alert was raised to its maximum. Land, sea, and air patrols also spread as part of a well-executed preemptive plan. According to local sources, the attempt was made by a group of irregular migrants, including Algerians, who tried to cross by swimming or sneaking through the fence towards the occupied city. However, the quick and vigilant intervention of the security forces prevented the success of the operation, and all those involved were arrested and referred to investigation to reveal the circumstances and backgrounds of the move. Preliminary data indicate that the inciting calls were coordinated through digital platforms managed from within Algerian territory, behind which are organized human trafficking networks that exploit the conditions of migrants for political and media purposes targeting Morocco. Observers believe that this maneuver is nothing more than a new episode of attempts to create artificial tension between Morocco and Spain, in light of the growing rapprochement between the two countries and the increase in the level of security coordination between Rabat and Madrid. This also reflects a clear state of confusion among the Algerian regime in the face of the growing regional and international role of Morocco as a reliable partner in security and migration issues. Through this decisive intervention, Morocco confirms that its borders are not an area for chaos, and that it is able to combine security firmness and humanitarian responsibility, ensuring the protection of its stability, sovereignty, and strategic position in the region.
