Blackmail and corruption lead a police officer to an investigation in Tetouan.

The Regional Brigade of the Judicial Police of the city of Tetouan opened a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, on the evening of Wednesday June 26, in order to determine the circumstances and facts surrounding the involvement of a police officer working to the Traffic Accident Service in a case of corruption and blackmail.

The security services reacted with great seriousness to a report submitted by a person accusing the police officer in question of blackmailing him and demanding a sum of money to turn a blind eye to the execution of his duties when handling a case linked to a road accident. A judicial investigation was opened, which led to the arrest of the suspected employee in the act of receiving part of the bribe money.

The arrested police officer was placed in police custody as part of the investigation carried out under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, in order to reveal all the circumstances and background of this case.

On the administrative level, the General Directorate of National Security is awaiting the end of the current legal proceedings against the person concerned to take the disciplinary sanctions provided for by the general statute of National Security officials.
