HIBAPRESS – Chafiq Anouri
The separatist "Polisario" Front failed to bring Sahrawis from the southern provinces of Morocco to protest the UN Security Council's approach to adopting autonomy as the only solution to the fabricated conflict.
Despite its calls that began days ago on social media pages, and the promotion that the response to the Security Council would come from the Sahrawis themselves on the ground, no one responded to these calls.
The separatist front was heavily betting on any reaction from the residents of southern Morocco in order to exploit it to promote the narrative that the "Sahrawis" reject the Security Council's decision, but it received a big shock.
Only the residents of the Tindouf camps, who were overcome by their circumstances, came out to demonstrate, those who found nothing but to respond to the calls of the leaders of the "Polisario" who are trying to work to keep the conflict going for as long as possible.
To counter this painful blow that supports Morocco's position more than ever, and confirms that "Polisario" only represents the residents of the camps, forced to obey its orders under the pressure of killing or imprisonment, the separatist front, along with Algerian pages and websites, promoted that the demonstrations took place in Laayoune and Dakhla.
Anyone, whether a follower of the Sahara file or not, can know, by scrutinizing the photos and videos, that the photos of the demonstrations do not belong to the cities of the Moroccan Sahara at all, and that they were taken in the Hamada desert in Tindouf, which raises more than one question mark about the goal behind this "propaganda" which was described as "stupid".
Observers believe that "Polisario" and Algeria have become accustomed to fabricating and promoting lies, but using this on the eve of the UN Security Council meeting to discuss the Sahara file is considered "stupid", especially since the MINURSO mission will confirm that the cities of southern Morocco did not witness any such demonstrations, and that the latter took place in the Tindouf camps.
It is worth noting that "Polisario" calls its camps in Tindouf by the names of the cities of the Moroccan Sahara (Laayoune Province, Boujdour Province, Smara Province, Dakhla Province…), in order to mislead the international media in addressing the issue, which is what Algerian websites and pages exploited in order to support their false narrative about the protests.
