The Algerian regime received a new slap in the corridors of the Security Council after its failure to pass any amendment to the final version of the draft resolution related to the UN mission in charge of monitoring the ceasefire in the Moroccan Sahara, a decision that once again enshrined the reality that the "referendum" option has become a thing of the past and is no longer on the table except in the outdated discourse of the Algerian regime and its propaganda arms.
Algeria's futile maneuvers
Algeria's futile maneuvers were revealed, which were nothing more than a desperate attempt to disrupt the discussion and revive illusions that reality had buried long ago, especially after the draft resolution included a clear affirmation of Morocco's full sovereignty over its southern territories, and the consolidation of the autonomy initiative as a serious and credible political option that enables the people of the Sahara to manage their affairs within the territorial integrity of the Kingdom.
Algeria's moves also clashed with the wall of the firm Chinese position, as the efforts of its Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf failed to convince Beijing to change its position supporting the decisions formulated by the United States as the "pen holder" within the Security Council.
Strength and seriousness of the Moroccan autonomy initiative
The Chinese official renewed during his contact with Attaf his country's support for the UN path and for the strength and seriousness of the Moroccan autonomy initiative, calling for direct negotiations that would lead to a realistic and lasting political solution.
In recent days, the individual moves of the Algerian regime have exposed its clear confusion and contradictory discourse, after it became the one at the forefront of the conflict, while the separatist front disappeared into the shadows, leaving it to defend its dead project.
Thus, it was once again confirmed that Algeria is not an "observer party" as it claims, but rather the driving force behind the conflict, seeking through it to serve its regional agenda and attempt to encircle Morocco and isolate it from its African extension, but these maneuvers have become transparent to everyone.
