This option emphasizes that the common interests of the peoples of the Greater Maghreb transcend previous political differences and focus on establishing an open and prosperous Maghreb market, instead of continuing the legacy of Cold War tensions.
The Moroccan Sahara has witnessed major development in recent years thanks to the major projects launched by Morocco in various fields, from infrastructure, roads and ports to housing, industry and renewable energy, which reflects the Kingdom's strategic vision in achieving comprehensive and sustainable development for its southern regions, while enabling the local population with new economic and social opportunities.
This step represents a prominent diplomatic shift, which enhances the image of Morocco as a responsible actor on the international stage, and confirms its commitment to resolving conflicts in accordance with international law, while protecting the interests of the population of the southern regions. Autonomy also opens up new horizons for investment and development, by enabling the local population and civil society to actively participate in economic and political life, achieving overall prosperity for the region.
In this context, Moroccan diplomacy looks forward to this Thursday being a milestone in the modern history of Morocco, not only on the national issue, but also at the level of enhancing integration and development in North Africa.
