HIBAPRESS – Follow-up
CNN reported on Wednesday that at least seven people were killed and 11 others were injured after a UPS cargo plane crashed near Louisville Airport in Kentucky, USA.
The channel stated that the plane crashed a few minutes after taking off from the airport, causing extensive damage to shops and neighboring roads, and the accident resulted in a thick cloud of black smoke extending for miles in the sky. Governor Andy Beshear said on Tuesday that the number of victims is likely to rise as search and investigation operations continue, noting that the fate of the plane's crew is still unknown. He added, "Anyone who has seen the videos realizes the extent of the accident's violence, and there are many families anxiously waiting to know the fate of their loved ones." For his part, Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg confirmed via the X platform (formerly Twitter) that the city authorities "are working around the clock in coordination with emergency agencies at the scene of the accident." The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) took over the investigation into the accident, which involved UPS flight number 2976. The Aviation Administration explained that the Transportation Safety Board will lead the investigation, and a specialized team will arrive at the scene of the accident in Kentucky today, Wednesday, to begin its work.
