The National Office of the Moroccan Green Youth announced its deep concern and dissatisfaction with the repeated and unjustified interruptions experienced by many communities in the Settat province, and the city of Settat in particular, which have become extended for long hours without any prior announcement or responsible communication with the population, stressing the need for the optimal implementation of the high royal instructions related to the governance of water sector management, improving the handling of citizens' complaints within reasonable deadlines, and putting the administration at the service of the citizen, with raising the quality of services and improving the effectiveness of field interventions.
According to a statement from the National Office, a copy of which "HIBAPRESS" received, the transformation of accidental incidents into habitual and repeated interruptions is a clear indication of the fragility of water infrastructure and the absence of a strategic vision to secure the basic needs of citizens, the statement said. The Moroccan Green Youth also expressed its astonishment at the delay in projects to strengthen water networks in the city, which have turned from an expected developmental blessing into a curse of delay and faltering, as a result of the extension of works for long years within the most important neighborhoods and urban areas, and what it left behind of defects, damage, and speed bumps, and a negative impact on traffic and movement, in addition to damaging the condition of roads throughout the city, demanding the opening of a transparent and urgent investigation into the extent to which the works comply with the terms of reference, with respect for legal procedures at various stages of concluding deals related to stalled or faltering projects, while revealing the real reasons behind the poor quality of some road sections that were damaged due to the works without being repaired, with the identification of responsibilities and the arrangement of legal and administrative penalties. The Moroccan Green Youth also condemned, through its statement, the absence of any official and objective communication with the population of the province regarding the repetition of interruptions, whether those related to drinking water or what accompanied the recent rainfall of power outages in vast areas of the city of Settat, in addition to the rest of the imbalances that affect the quality of services provided by the regional multi-service company in the Settat province. The Moroccan Green Youth also drew attention to the great delay in the completion of the wastewater treatment plant project in Settat, which constitutes a prominent title of the failure to manage a vital sector, as it describes it, which directly affects the environment, green spaces and related sectors.
