The city of Seville inaugurated the Moroccan Crafts Exhibition as part of a cultural initiative aimed at strengthening ties between Andalusia and Morocco, by presenting models of traditional and contemporary creativity by a number of senior artisans within the spaces of the Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation, where the event continues until November 21st.
According to what was published by the Spanish website “La Razon”, this event represents the first executive step of the memorandum of understanding signed between the Ministry of Handicrafts, Social and Solidarity Economy in Morocco and the Three Cultures Foundation of Andalusia, a step that the organizing parties are betting on to support cultural cooperation and highlight the Moroccan craft diversity within Andalusia. Members of the regional government in Andalusia, including Rocío Blanco and Patricia del Pozo, participated in the opening ceremony, in addition to Lahcen Asseydi, the Moroccan Secretary of State in charge of Traditional Industry, in addition to the presence of cultural figures and representatives of the crafts sector from both sides. The organizers confirmed that the exhibition includes pieces that represent the various regional characteristics in Morocco, including haute couture, carpets, engraving on juniper wood, textile paintings, decorative crafts and traditional clothing. The exhibition is accompanied by extensive media coverage after UNESCO announced the classification of the Three Cultures Foundation as a Category II center, which gives the event additional momentum and strengthens the foundation's position as a bridge for dialogue between the two sides of the Mediterranean.
