HIBAPRESS
King Mohammed VI affirmed that “the Kingdom of Morocco, stemming from its firm and deep-rooted belief in the centrality and justice of the Palestinian cause, and its adherence to the option of a just peace, and out of its keenness to invest in the positive momentum resulting from the ceasefire agreement, affirms its readiness to engage in international efforts aimed at creating the conditions to revive the peace process in the Middle East”.
The King clarified in a message addressed to the Chairman of the United Nations Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, Koli Sek, on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, which is celebrated this year on November 25, that these efforts should be made within clear standards and a reasonable time frame, away from the logic of crisis management, His Majesty indicating that the supreme goal is to achieve security, stability, and prosperity for all the peoples of the region.
In this context, His Majesty recalled that after two years of a devastating war in the Gaza Strip, the diligent and intensive diplomatic efforts yielded a ceasefire agreement, “we hope that all its clauses and stages will be implemented,” His Majesty noted, pointing out that this “will enable the killing machine to be stopped, alleviate the suffering of the brotherly Palestinian people, and allow the entry of humanitarian aid smoothly and in sufficient quantities.”
His Majesty added that this will also allow “the urgent launch of the reconstruction process and the opening of prospects towards a just and comprehensive political solution to the Palestinian cause.”
After welcoming this positive development, the King was keen to express his appreciation for the earnest endeavors and personal engagement of His Excellency President Donald Trump, who played a decisive role in achieving this noble goal, while appreciating “the desperate efforts of all the mediators.”
On the other hand, the King pointed out that the Kingdom of Morocco, following its approach of supporting peace, affirms its full readiness to contribute effectively to all the stages and paths agreed upon within the framework of the recent ceasefire agreement.
His Majesty said in this regard: “We are facing a pivotal moment, filled with hope in the long march of the Palestinian people towards freedom and independence, and all its opportunities and possibilities must be invested, through the continuation of regional and international mobilization to ensure the implementation of all the clauses of this agreement and moving forward in all its stages.”
In this context, the King highlighted that any international effort aimed at achieving a just and sustainable peace must be based on the following determinants: ensuring the unity of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, politically and administratively, under the supervision of the Palestinian National Authority, with a view to them together forming an integral part of the desired Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and supporting the Palestinian National Authority, under the leadership of His Excellency President Mahmoud Abbas, and strengthening its political, administrative, and financial capabilities.
This also concerns – the King adds – supporting the Palestinian economy by lifting restrictions on the movement of goods, money, and people, encouraging Palestinian reconciliation efforts, to ensure the unity of the Palestinian national ranks under the umbrella of the Palestine Liberation Organization, in addition to launching a serious negotiation process between the two parties, according to a precise and specific timetable, and within the vision of the two-state solution, its goal being the establishment of a sovereign and viable Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, living in security and peace alongside the State of Israel.
The King also affirmed that the Palestinian people have suffered, over the past two years, from bitter conditions, which have often exceeded what a person can bear, His Majesty recalling that, based on the firm solidarity with the Palestinian people, and in response to the humanitarian disaster that befell them, the Kingdom of Morocco initiated, on five occasions since October 2023, to send urgent humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, which included food, water, relief materials, medicine and medical supplies.
The King said that the last of these aids was the air bridge that was carried out in two installments, through which about 300 tons of humanitarian aid were transported, where the delivery of that Moroccan humanitarian aid was secured via an unprecedented land route.
On the other hand, the King stressed that it is not possible to talk about a just and sustainable solution to the Palestinian cause without seriously and responsibly addressing the issue of Holy Jerusalem, due to what the holy city represents of strong symbolism and high sensitivity.
Recognizing this dimension – the King continues – "we continue, in our capacity as Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, emanating from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the earnest efforts to preserve its original civilizational character and preserve its legal status and defend the sanctity of its Islamic and Christian holy sites."
He affirmed that this comes "through the combination of diplomatic action and field work embodied in the social projects implemented by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Al-Sharif Agency," His Majesty expressing his deep concern regarding the escalating unilateral Israeli provocative measures in the city of Jerusalem, and the repeated violations of the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The King warned that these practices “warn, if they continue, that we will enter into a cycle of religious conflict, which may, God forbid, ignite the entire region.”
On another level, the King expressed his regret for the situation in the West Bank, which “is experiencing a reality that is no less tragic and dangerous due to the expansion of settlements and the intensification of daily attacks against Palestinians and their property, with the aim of displacing the safe population, in the prospect of imposing actual and legal annexation, which will nullify the material basis for the two-state solution.”
On the other hand, the King affirmed that the growing global momentum in favor of the right of Palestinians to establish their independent state within the framework of the two-state solution, which is embodied in a series of continuous international recognitions of the State of Palestine, enhances the dynamic launched by the Global Coalition to implement the two-state solution, at the initiative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the French Republic.
The King highlighted that this momentum reflects the growing conviction that there is no alternative to this solution, and there is no room for further procrastination in its implementation on the ground, His Majesty clarifying that, stemming from engagement in this dynamic and in support of it, the Kingdom of Morocco hosted, in May 2025, the fifth meeting of the International Coalition for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, in partnership with the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The King concluded that “the two-state solution has, therefore, become an immediate demand imposed by political realism,” noting that this solution also has a humanitarian and moral dimension, which is represented in “the justice of a people who have been deprived, for decades, of their legitimate political rights and their human dignity guaranteed by all heavenly and positive laws.”
