HIBAPRESS – Rabat
The path of irregular migration between Morocco and Spain has led to the emergence of remarkable individual stories, including the story of a Moroccan youth who arrived in Andalusia years ago hidden under a truck, before recently joining the local police force in the city of Seville.
The young man's story turned into one of the most prominent moments witnessed during the local police day celebration in the city this week, according to Spanish news sites, including "Infobae", which reported that the person in question, Marouane Chabi Barriq, had arrived in Algeciras as a minor after several attempts. The source added in its report that the police transported him to a center for sheltering minors and from there to Seville. After reaching adulthood, he obtained housing provided by the care system of the Andalusian government, then continued his studies until he finished the preparatory stage and moved to live with the "Salesian" monks, who provided him with guidance that helped him to settle and pursue his path. The Spanish report continued that Marouane, who was born in the city of Kenitra, 30 kilometers from the Moroccan capital Rabat, was able, after years of hard work and perseverance in Spain, to pass the local police entrance exam, obtaining his position officially this year. The website quoted him as saying that he cried twice in his life; the first time while under the truck during the crossing, and the second when he was informed of his success in the police entrance exam, adding that the policeman has become highly regarded within the force, as his story was told in a video shown during the local police day celebration in Seville.
