HIBAPRESS – Abdellatif Baraka
Recent data reveals a concerning picture of the health situation in Morocco, as a group of chronic and costly diseases continues to strongly impose its presence within the medical files being treated within the health insurance system.
Figures obtained by HIBAPRESS indicate that heart and arterial diseases top the list with a total of 131,519 medical files during one year, a number that reflects the weight of these diseases and the diversity of their cases, both surgical and non-surgical.
In second place come cancer diseases, with 42,405 files, highlighting the ongoing challenges of addressing this type of disease with high treatment costs.
As for births, the number of cesarean section files reached 20,928, a number that far exceeds the number of natural birth files, which did not exceed 10,402 files, which raises questions about the reasons for the increase in the use of cesarean operations compared to traditional birth.
The National Fund for Social Security Organizations also recorded the treatment of 45,000 files related to kidney failure, for their owners who undergo regular dialysis sessions. In addition to these serious diseases, other files related to hospitalization, paramedical interventions, dentistry, and various surgeries not related to heart and arterial diseases emerged.
These numbers as a whole paint the features of a health scene that is becoming more complex, and confirm the increasing need to strengthen prevention, develop health strategies, and support the treatment system to address the rising pressure resulting from chronic and costly diseases.
