Libyan crisis: Morocco and the UN agree to continue dialogue

The Kingdom of Morocco and the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) have agreed to continue dialogue on the political process in Libya, said on Monday in Rabat, the acting special representative of the UN Secretary-General for Libya, Stephanie Khoury.

In a statement to the press following her talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, Ms. Khoury affirmed that “we agreed to continue the dialogue and discuss ways to advance the political operation in Libya, under the aegis of the UN, in the service of the Libyan people.”

The UN official stressed that the talks with Mr. Bourita were an opportunity to discuss the difficulties in Libya and the needs of the Libyan people, as well as the importance of progress in the political operation in Libya, noting that these topics constitute the priorities of UNSMIL.

She also specified that her working visit to the Kingdom is part of a first tour of the countries of the region with a view to examining ways to resolve the political crisis in Libya.
