HIBAPRESS – Rabat
Younes Skouri, Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills, confirmed that the labor code, which the government is working to amend, will bring about an important change in the working conditions of private security guards, by reducing their daily working hours from 12 hours to 8 hours.
The Minister explained, during an intervention in the House of Representatives, that the current situation of this category is no longer acceptable, especially since the long working hours directly affect their health and professional performance, which requires a review of the legal framework regulating this sector. Skouri pointed out that the aim of this reform is to guarantee the dignity of security guards and provide a minimum of social justice within the service professions undertaken by subcontracting companies, stressing that reducing working hours will force these companies to respect employment standards and address the chronic imbalances that cause exhaustion of workers. He also stressed that the government is committed to accompanying this change by strengthening monitoring and deterrence against companies that do not respect the law, in a way that ensures the actual implementation of the reform on the ground.
