HIBAPRESS – Fikri Ould Ali
Since September 1, 2025, the Regional Multi-Service Company Tangier–Tetouan–Al Hoceima has become the sole institution authorized to manage the distribution of water, electricity, and liquid sanitation services at the regional level, including the Al Hoceima region, within a new approach aimed at unifying management and improving the quality of services provided to citizens.
The sanitation network in the Al Hoceima region has four wastewater treatment plants, treating annually more than 4.3 million cubic meters of wastewater, in addition to a drainage network extending over 663 kilometers, supported by 41 pumping stations for wastewater towards treatment plants.
In the context of preparing for the rainy season and preventing the risks of floods, the technical teams of the regional company continue their field interventions, within the framework of preventive programs that started immediately after the end of the summer season, specifically at the beginning of September. These operations include regular cleaning and clearing of the sewage canals and manholes, with the aim of removing sediments and impurities that may impede the natural flow of water.
In this regard, the Regional Director of the Regional Multi-Service Company in the Al Hoceima region, Souheil Sejja, confirmed that the Regional Directorate is working on "mobilizing specialized and qualified technical teams, supported by advanced logistical means, within a proactive approach aimed at ensuring the safety of infrastructure and protecting citizens from the risks of floods."
The same official explained that the company has deployed seven water tankers, an automated unit for prospecting and monitoring with cameras, along with specialized manual equipment, in order to intervene quickly and effectively in various sensitive points.
Souheil Sejja added that the company has established a permanent working cell, working in close coordination with local authorities and the Meteorological Department, in order to monitor the climatic situation and proactively intervene in areas that are likely to witness significant rainfall.
The Regional Director concluded his statement by confirming that "to date, and thanks to these preventive measures, no major hotspots or problems have been recorded in terms of water drainage, despite the significant rainfall that the region has witnessed this season," stressing that the company remains in a state of continuous mobilization to respond immediately to any emergency, through the call centers dedicated to receiving and processing complaints from users.
