A professional meeting brought together representatives of the private medical sector with the Minister of Health and Social Protection to discuss a number of files related to the reform of the national health system, in the context of continuing the path of consultation and dialogue on organizational and professional issues that concern the practice of medicine and the position of the private sector within the transformations witnessed by the health system in Morocco.
A statement received by HIBAPRESS newspaper stated that this meeting, which was held on Wednesday, December 17th, was chaired by the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Amin Tahraoui, with the participation of representatives of the National Trade Union of Specialist Doctors in the Private Sector, the National Union of Doctors in the Free Sector, and the National Union of General Practitioners in the Private Sector, in addition to the National Association of Owners of Private Clinics in Morocco, where the meeting was an opportunity to exchange views on a number of priority issues within a consultative approach based on responsible dialogue.
The statement clarified that the discussion concerned the file of the elections of the National Council of Physicians, in light of the current situation it is experiencing, where the necessity of deepening the dialogue on this issue was emphasized in order to explore ways to overcome the constraints raised, within a participatory and responsible approach that takes into account the interest of the profession and the health system.
The meeting also addressed the status of the national reference tariff and the general classification of medical work, where it was recalled that this tariff has not been updated for years, with an exchange of views on the constraints associated with this file, in light of the development of medical practice and technological progress, and in view of the context of the generalization of compulsory basic health insurance.
The participants also discussed ways to enhance integration and coordination between the public and private sectors within the health system, which contributes to strengthening the health offer and improving planning, while emphasizing the need for this integration to be in harmony with the national and regional health map, in a way that ensures a balanced and fair distribution of health services and meets the needs of the population.
The meeting witnessed a discussion about the position of the general practitioner within the health system, especially with regard to the path of initial treatment, examination, and diagnosis and the guidance of patients, where the pivotal role played by the general practitioner in improving access to health services, rationalizing expenditures, and enhancing the efficiency of the health system was highlighted.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the participants stressed that the implementation of territorial health groups constitutes a structural workshop that requires continued consultation and coordination, in a way that ensures clarity of roles and enhances integration between various actors at the regional level, stressing that this meeting falls within a continuous consultative path, and that the meetings will continue in order to address various issues related to the medical profession and the organization of the health sector, within the framework of a responsible and constructive dialogue that aims to make the reform of the national health system a success.
