Ouarzazate local prison: The DGAPR takes a series of administrative measures against officials

The General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR) announced a series of administrative measures against officials at the local prison of Ouarzazate, following illegal overruns.

Following the broadcast of a video on social networks (Youtube) containing statements, on the conditions of detention at the local prison of Ouarzazate, of a repeat offender recently released from this establishment, a central commission of the general inspection of the DGAPR was tasked with carrying out an investigation on this subject, underlines the DGAPR in a press release made public on Friday.

The investigations carried out within the penitentiary establishment made it possible to stop a series of illegal excesses by certain officials and failures in the exercise of the responsibilities assigned to the administrative staff of the prison, said the same source. On the basis of these conclusions, the General Delegation took a battery of administrative measures, in particular the referral of the civil servants concerned to the disciplinary council, with the notification to the public prosecutor of all the violations committed.

The overcrowding of the establishment, which houses almost double its capacity, constitutes an additional objective constraint which has led to the deterioration of detention conditions in this prison, notes the same source.
