American President Donald Trump stated on Saturday that the United States would take over the management of Venezuela following a military operation, which he said led to the arrest of President Nicolas Maduro, confirming that this step will continue until a political transition that he described as safe and organized is guaranteed.
Trump explained, during a press conference, that Washington would temporarily supervise the affairs of the country until a stable transitional phase is secured, indicating that his administration is in the process of appointing officials who will assume specific tasks, with their names to be announced later. The American president hinted at the possibility of carrying out additional military strikes against Venezuela if necessary, stressing that he does not rule out deploying American forces on the ground if the situation requires it. In a related context, Trump announced his intention to allow American oil companies to enter the Venezuelan market to exploit its oil reserves, clarifying that major companies will invest billions of dollars to repair the deteriorating oil infrastructure, considering that this will benefit the country, despite his confirmation of the continued application of the American embargo on Venezuelan oil. Trump indicated that the Venezuelan President and his wife were arrested and will be tried before the American judiciary, describing the military operation as one of the most successful operations in the history of the United States, and confirming that American air, ground, and naval forces participated in its implementation.
