HIBAPRESS
Data from the General Directorate of Meteorology indicates the continued impact of an active low pressure system on Morocco, which will be reflected in unstable weather conditions characterized by significant rainfall, snowfall, and a noticeable drop in temperatures in a number of regions of the Kingdom.
The data issued by the Directorate stated that the rainfall, which may sometimes be thundery and locally heavy, will affect wide areas including the High and Middle Atlas Mountains and their surrounding areas, the Rif, Sais, the Mediterranean coast, the Atlantic plains, and Souss, in addition to the northwest of the Southern Provinces, as well as some central and eastern regions. Snowfall is also expected on the heights of the High and Middle Atlas Mountains and the high plateaus, which exceed 1200 meters in altitude, with the possibility of light snow on the peaks of the Rif.
In parallel with these disturbances, a significant drop in temperatures is expected, especially on Tuesday and Wednesday, where cold to very cold weather will prevail in the mountainous regions and high plateaus, with minimum temperatures that may drop below zero in the High Atlas Mountains. Strong to relatively strong winds are also expected in a number of regions, especially in the Atlas Mountains and the central coasts and the eastern region, which will increase the feeling of cold.
During Tuesday and Wednesday, the cold weather will continue with continuous snowfall over the highlands, along with scattered rainfall in a number of northern and central regions. Starting from Thursday, the forecasts indicate a gradual improvement in the weather conditions, with a return to relative stability and a slight and gradual increase in temperatures during the day, despite the possibility of occasional passing clouds in the northwest of the country.
The General Directorate of Meteorology called on citizens to take precautions, especially in the mountainous regions and areas exposed to snowfall and strong winds, with the need to follow official weather bulletins and warnings.
